East – West transport

LHS is the furthest –West wide – gauge railway Line in Europe. The Polish section (400 km) starts on the Polish –Ukrainian border in Hrubieszów , and ends in Sławków. Via the Ukrainian railway system, LHS has direct access to the Transsiberian Railway. It provides the opportunity for connection top the railway system of Ukraine and Russia and creation of a Pan – European Land Transport Corridor Europe – Asia.

General information

PKP Broad Gauge Metallurgical Railway Line Limited Liability Company begun operation in the field of railway transport of goods on 1 July 2001 on the basis of:

  • Foundation Deed – Partnership Agreement made in Warsaw on 01.12.2000.
  • Entry of 20.11.2001 in the National Court Register, currently run by Regional Court in Lublin, XI Economic Department
  • Management concession issued by the Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy on 29.06.2001.
  • Licence for shipment issued by the President of Office for Railway Transport on 27.02.2004.
  • Safety Certificate for railway shipping company issued by the President of Office for Railway Transport on 22.12.2006.
  • Safety Certificate for railway infrastructure administrator issued by the President of Office for Railway Transport on 22.12.2006.

LHS performs the function of SHIPMENT COMPANY and RAILWAY ADMINISTRATOR of the 400 km long broad-gauge (1520 mm) railway line connecting the Polish-Ukrainian Izow - Hrubieszów border crossing with Sławków LHS station located 30 km from Katowice.

The company renders full range of shipment services connected with imports, exports and transit deliveries.

LHS has a direct railway connection (via the broad-gauge system of Ukrainian railways) with railways of former Soviet Union countries, including the Trans-Siberian Railway and the New Silk Route via Kazakhstan to China.

Loading ramps and terminals, freight yards, storehouses, bonded warehouses and carriage scales are located at stations managed by LHS Company.

Hrubieszów, Zamość-Bortatycze, Szczebrzeszyn, Wola Baranowska, Staszów, Grzybów, Gołuchów, Sędziszów and Sławków stations provide connections with 1435 mm gauge railway lines.
